Because the players today have more choices and knowledge.
they don't care about iron man type stuff.... its embarrassing and sucks as a fan of the game.
This goes for ALL sports, not just the NBA.
Players opt out for their own reasons, organizations opt players out if they have nothing to compete for (save their body for next season) yada yada..
Its really terrible what they do, but its how things are now so...is what it is.
