We were there in Dec 2020, so we were kind of limited on what we could see and do in the city.
Did enjoy Mt Vernon, and downtown Alexandria. You could combine those into one day. Mt Vernon to start, then head back to Alexandria for mid afternoon exploration and dinner. We went to Mt Vernon on like a night time Christmas deal where they had Washington Era things going on. Would love to go back in the day sometime.
The double decker bus tour through the city was a good way to see everything in 2 or 3 hours. Maybe hit that up to get a lay of the land, and then go back to some things you want to see a little more.
Restaurants: Filomena. Really good food and experience. Farmers Fishers Bakers has a good brunch. It’s buffet style so that was kind of odd, but it worked out.
Joe’s Stone Crab is great.
Things I want to do when we go back are hit Mt Vernon in the daylight, museums, and eat at Filomena again. Also want to eat at a place called Fiola Mare.
If I were to do this, I have a feeling Bennie Thompson would tell my white arse to kick rocks.

Email or call the congressional office of your rep or senators before your trip and let them know its your honeymoon, good chance they can arrange a special hill tour for you.
