Look up Oxford History of the United States. The series is ongoing, but so far has about 10 books covering the revolution up to 9/11. Multiple entries have won pulitzers.

I have personally read The Glorious Cause by Middlekauff and What Hath God Wrought by Howe. Strongly recommend both and I always keep meaning to keep going through the series.
