quote:So it died twice?
SNL died when John Belushi ,Dan Ackroyd , and Eddie Murphy left the show
Apparently the consensus is it officially died (after years in a coma) when Kate McKinnon sang "Hallelujah" after Trump won, totally straight, without a hint of irony or comedy

This is probably the most tone deaf, self righteous, narcissistic, out of place, pathetic stunt I ever witnessed on a television program: For those who haven’t seen it
You left out that she was dressed like Hillary Clinton and ended the song by looking into the camera and saying “I’m not giving up. And neither should you.”
That wasn’t some goofy improvised skit that backfired. It was the open to the show. She had to sit in a room full of actors and writers and they all agreed that would be the best cold open. Then the head writer and the higher ups all agreed. Then they practiced it a few times and at no point did anyone come to their senses.
It’s not just that skit. It’s the totality and the effort and people involved in making it happen that proved that SNL is dead.
