Never would have guessed this would be as an explanation for DST. Can't have those plants missing all that morning sun due to an arbitrary number. Farmers literally set their own hours. There is no need to cater to them for a time consideration.
People working conventional jobs are the real losers in DST. Most people would prefer to get off of work and have some daylight remaining in their down time.
