Hollywood has "woke" content. Yall think the Hangover would ever be made in today's world? I like funny, I don't care if its gay people or not, but this had the same feel as that dumbass bridesmaid movie.

This is the insightful take for me.

Sexuality stuff notwithstanding, I could tell this movie would not be received well. Why? Because simply put, they are trying too hard. It's not just happening in comedy; it's happening in all genres.

No longer are film writers and directors putting out movies that are good for their own sake. They are putting out movies that we're "supposed to like." The arrogance is utterly staggering. The creators aren't supposed to dictate what people like; the audience gets to decide that for themselves.

You could see from a mile away (hell, they literally said it themselves) that this wasn't going to be a funny movie that just so happens to feature a gay couple. It was A GAY MOVIE and we're supposed to like it and think it's funny because it's GAY and because YOU'RE NOT A HOMOPHOBE, ARE YOU?!

Imagine if Star Wars: A New Hope was about to hit theatres, and George Lucas, Mark Hamill, and the studio paraded around saying "This is such an awesome SCI-FI FANTASY and if you're not one of those losers who is too cool to watch SCI-FI FANTASIES than you should come see this movie. If you don't like SCI-FI FANTASIES then you just need to stay home, because we don't want you there."

It's like...no, they just created a great movie based around a great story that just happened to take place in a Sci-fi fantasy universe. The fans responded.
