But wouldn't it be great to pay tribute to him by recasting the role with a strong black male actor?
The way they're doing it, building a film around the loss of that person, with turmoil, visual reminders of the loss to Wakanda, showing the journey that leads to someone taking up his mantle, that's a tribute.
Not, "The role of Black Panther will now be played by John David Washington."

Chadwick Boseman wasn't an icon to his race. The man wasn't MLK. The hyperbole is a little much.

They could have recast the role without the extended memorial service.

I like JDW, but a poor choice for the role.

I swear you're a contrarian or just have the worst imaginable takes.

TChalla is an iconic character. Boseman is an actor.
For reference, Anthony Mackie or Don Cheadle would be recast, immediately.

Sidney Poitier was in Black Panther? Your hyperbole is showing.
