I did not know House could call games like this. His schemes/in-game adjustments have been Aranda-esque
He’s actually doing something that Aranda couldn’t do. He’s getting the defense to perform well in the zone and in man to man. I remember Aranda having fits with the zone defense. I’m also happy with how physical the defense is. They’re playing downhill and hitting hard. Most of the time there are multiple defenders on the play, and even when a guy gets loose, the pursuit is good enough that it’s not taken the distance every time. The effort that’s been missing is there.
Yeah, beating New Mexico doesn’t really mean all that much, but you could definitely tell that they are progressing and the play is much smoother. They didn’t look lost or frantically trying to communicate. The mistakes were ones of execution, which is easier to fix with just repetition.

You did what you could do. The defense sans 1 missed assignment played as well as you could possibly hope. With starters out of the game, that's almost unfathomable.
On offense, you put up a ton of yards, but there is still a good bit to clean up there. Only 38 points to show for it.Not that that's a bad thing especially considering your backup QB played a majority of the snaps, I believe. I haven't seen a snap count breakdown.
Special teams, they look better than week 1, so there's progression there, but not much. This is where you would expect the attrition that has happened to take effect, and it has. Special teams might be a weak spot until we have 85 LSU level players.
