that was my thought the first time I heard the ShotSpotter audio... that was couplers banging together as if they were tightening up to start moving.

Which would also happen if they were swapping cars, locomotives, etc. somewhere on the line also.

That first loud bang, which also had a "clack" sound to it, no very brief reverberations like a gunshot.

These cars move to and fro, banging the couplings with any slight movement of the engine, forward or backwards. None of that means the train was actually going anywhere
