Our family were the only non- believers in our parish. This was the era of Midsouth Wrestling with Junkyard Dog, Ernie Ladd, Kamala the Ugandan Giant, etc. Everyone else bought it 100%.

Kids at school, and this is high school, would be furious when I said it was fake. “Have you been?! If you went and saw it, you’d know it’s real!”

I was at a friend’s house when the subject came up, and his 50+ year old dad started yelling at me, pissed off as hell, defending the authenticity of pro wrestling.
