My parents had great taste in music and i liked it all. I’m older but my parents always listened to music on Sunday’s and I have fond memories of Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Duke Elllington, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald. Those are the ones I remember.
My dad liked Tennessee Ernie Ford on Sunday’s. The 33’s were stacked up on the turntable and I can remember like it was yesterday. I wish I hadn’t been so stupid and had kept those 33 LP’s. I remember throwing them all away.
Roast and rice and gravy for lunch with green peas.
I remember when Herb Alpert hit the scene and my dad was like….light weight, no talent. It was new, latin music and my dad wasn’t too fond of it.
So I loved my parents music and I could see how it inspired folks like Chuck Berry, Elvis and the other early Rock and Roll stars.
