Mississippi has an historic coast, beautiful barrier islands, and a taste of Appalachia in the northeast foothills. So there's plenty of nice countryside and outdoor stuff.

Mississippi's problem is it's elected officials, Jackson residents, and Madison residents. Forget the delta. Jackson LOVES poverty, but cries about suffering on TV. Read the city/metro section of the Clarion Ledger, or watch the local news for a week and you'll begin to get the picture.

Madison residents don't want economic growth because it brings about change, whether it's traffic related or buildings too tall the residents don't feel comfortable living around them. Ridgeland offers more than Madison in terms of places to go. Those people are kind of like people with NYC borough syndrome. Nothing else exits around them.

You have to live here to understand the each situation.
