Initially 55 years ago racism played a part. 30 years ago not so much. 25 years ago definitely more crime related and job opportunities outside city. Jackson was also losing educated folks to Birmingham, Memphis and Nashville and even tupelo. Plenty of banking oops there. 15 years ago racism. But it was racist black "leaders" driving out the last few hopeful leaders and folks trying to make a difference. Now it is Mogadishu. Jackson would have double or triple the crime, but the criminals are too busy boiling water and trying to take a shite to have gun fights over territory.

Makes me sad. Because there are some great people and places in other parts of the state.
