Did the switch come with directions? It may give you some indication of where you went wrong.
I know sometimes the switches can be wired in a 3-way configuration so you may just have a wire misplaced. But the directions that came with the switch should tell you where the wires terminate.

Yea. I read the directions. Even a good colored set. But I have 3 wires. The switch has 4. I’m think it’s a bad switch.
