You complain its not scary? Most slasher films aren't. They're mostly gore.
Its a cheap version of the horror genre...but you can't get more crazy creepy than the middle of buttfrick Texas in the 1970s when writers and directors had full authority. It almost feels like you're on the ground watching a doc. 70s films pushed the edge, the likes we haven't seen since.
