How long has Alcaraz been threatening this type of success?

It can’t have been for very long given his age, but surely he didn’t jump in the scene in the last 6 months.

I ask because I’ve never heard of him(I’m a very casual fan).

One year ago exactly. He beat Tsitsipas in the third round and made the quarters. He kind of tapped out physically at that point. A lot of people expected him to win the French, but Zverev played really well and took him out. Alcaraz is probably better on hardcourts. Anyway, tennis fans have been expecting this run. I just hope he has gas in the tank tomorrow, it's been a brutal week on him.
