The kid always wanted to leave BR. He was never favored to come here, his dad has stated to some in our circle on may different occasions that the kid wants to leave the state. I just hope fans stop pouncing on kids for doing what they think is best for them. I’m a high school coach and try not to influence my athletes decisions. With that being said a 6”3 corners with elite speed smh I’d love to have had him.

Shouldn’t you be at practice instead of posting on this stuff, my son’s 12 they’re practicing everyday at 2:50 since school started

I'm not pouncing on him at all and I can understand if a kid just wants to leave the state. But Tennessee just isn't known for developing NFL DBs and winning championships. Lol

Most of us already thought this was the reality.

Then some jackass "friend of the family" came and posted that Matthews "would have loved to be at LSU but the coaching staff was asleep at the wheel and offered him too late."

Which most of us knew was bullshite and came across as an excuse they could hide behind instead of just coming out and saying exactly what you said.

This guy also claimed LSU didn't really want Matthews and just gave him a "token offer" which was more bullshite spin.

Any animosity from this board about Matthews' recruitment is mostly due to that thread and a few others where someone who claims to be close to the family played them as victims of the mean old LSU staff.

By all accounts I've heard, Jordan Matthews is a very impressive young man and I wish him nothing but the best. It seems to me, though, that some people around him are creating a backlash by trying to protect him (by creating this narrative above) from a backlash that wasn't even coming (because most of us knew he probably wasn't coming to LSU and were fine with that). Either that, or they're personally offended LSU didn't work harder to keep him home and they're projecting their own disappointment onto Matthews and his family.
