I think I'd rather go in May or early June (with Tuolumne Meadows open), but September would be great. Anytime in Yosemite is great. Let me know if you have any questions.
Yes, try to stay in the valley. Yes, make the trip up to the Northern part of the park. Glacier Point will be closed if you are talking about this September, but yes, you should hike up Four Mile Trail to an abandoned Glacier Point. shite, I'd hike to Taft Point while there, but that's just me. Then hike Panorama Trail. Check water levels on Illilouette Creek first. It'll be a long day if not in shape, but will be very memorable. You're welcome.
