The "wrongfully detained" narrative is kind of ridiculous to me. If you willfully break the law in another country and get caught, they are well within their right to detain you. Don't want to do time in a Russian pound you in the arse gulag, don't break their laws.

Yeah, I don't get the "wrongfully detained" narrative either.

There are still many U.S. states, where you can be arrested for possessing a vape pen(s) with as little as less than 1 gram of THC oil (Brittney had 0.702 grams), that carries a minimum of 180 days in jail or a maximum of 2 years in jail.

Biggest difference is that in those states you can usually buy your way out of jail time with a hefty $10,000 fine & probation. Still, authorities can "rightfully detain" you, convict you, & imprison you in those U.S. states with strict THC possession laws.
