I'm pretty sure anyone could fight off my 120lb lab by asking if he wanted a treat or saying "where's the ball?" And by fight off, I mean keep him from slobbering on them wanting to be petted.

You also could leave your lab outside with no human interaction, no training, no socialization whatsoever and it wouldn't hurt a fly.
A pit bull on the other hand....
