Will my insurance company chase down a worthless POS that was driving around without insurance or will this be left up to me? Also, I have heard that when using uninsured motorist, this will affect my rates, is that a true statement?
They might try to chase down the guy, depending on how much they pay out. If you actually have the guy's info, they'll get a judgment against him and, at a minimum, ask DPS to suspend his license.
If the accident was not your fault, your UM rates should not be affected because you pursued a claim. If they are, file a complaint with the DOI.
If you were comparatively at fault for the accident, then depending on how much fault, it might affect your premium.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^This is Louisiana. I cannot speak to Alabama.

quote:Thanks. Just curious, are you an Insurance Baw or a Law Baw? The reason I ask, is there any possible scenario where an adjuster can come up with his own conclusion that differs from the accident report?
