Lake Canyon Area.

Will be visiting soon, looks like very close to Austin, San Antonio, the lake itself? what does board the say more things to do, than food or drink.

Well, it's Canyon Lake, not Lake Canyon.
It's about an hour from San Antonio and maybe 1.5 hours from Austin. If you've never been to SA, you should go and see the Alamo and the Riverwalk. If you like history, there's also Mission San Jose. You could see El Mercado and the San Fernando Cathedral. There's a pretty nice zoo among other stuff in Brackenridge Park.
