User I replied to talked about returning marriages to churches. Therefore, the only thing I can infer from that is the user is suggesting that marriage is a Christian thing. Therefore, my question still stands.

Stop being obtuse, it’s pretty much universally understood that when someone says the word church in this context refers to all houses of worship.
