It is some prime real estate. Rumor is that a developer has plans to demolish it and build those apartments with retail/restaurant space below it.

I'd love to see some sort of memorial to those killed there.

Already one of those on Lakeland across from UMMC. I hear it stays full. I would imagine mostly UMMC students, residents and employees. I know Richard St John has several projects going on in Fondren and I guess they could be successful but I'm not sure I would spend a penny in Jackson given their problems (self inflicted, I might add). Fondren is a little different but I understand the businesses in the area pay a premium for security protection.
