Can just just imagine what Brennan would have done if he were "comfortable"!!

1,112 yards in his first 3 starts, more than double Burrows first 3 starts.

It’s hard for me to fathom the utter lack of context when things like this are posted. The teams Myles played were not as good as the ones Burrow played. And the offense was completely different. We didn’t throw the ball nearly as much early in ‘18 as we did in ‘20. After the incredible offense in ‘19, O knew that’s what the fans wanted, which means it’s what he wanted. He wanted Joe Brady’s offense, throwing the ball all over the place. And our defense was terrible, so we were in shootouts. And, 2020 was the easiest year to play QB, maybe ever. In college and the NFL. One, because defenses weren’t able to be implemented due to the lockdowns and all the new guys after everybody got drafted didn’t ever really get to play together, while the QBs and WRs could at least get together and run routes and throw.

But the biggest thing, is they played in front of no crowds. QBs on the road had no noise to deal with. This makes sense, but was also documented, both in college and the NFL. And May had been at LSU 4 years in 2020. Burrow had been here about 5 months.

And I don’t mean this as any sort of criticism of Myles, just that the situations were so incredibly different, this stats comparison of their 1st 3 games is ridiculous without context.

One thing Myles does has going for him is his age. Being 23 and mature is a huge advantage and may wind up being what wins him the job. However, he hasn’t played a whole lot of football over the past 6 years. Think about it—he hasn’t been the starting QB since 2016 when he was in high school sans those 3 games in ‘20. Daniels has started the last 3 seasons in college, and I’m sure at least 2 in high school. Nuss was a full time starter in high school in ‘20, ‘19, and probably ‘18. Howard started the past 3 years of high school. Obviously high school at any level is nowhere near the SEC, but those 3 have just played a lot more football than Myles the past 5 years. That matters. How much, who knows, but at least some.

I could make an argument for all 4 QBs to start to be honest. Howard will probably redshirt, but I think the narrative that he wants to is a bit overblown. He’s a competitor, and if he somehow unlikely comes out and blows everybody away and Kelly thinks he’s the best guy, I doubt very seriously he’s just gonna say, “nah, I’m good. I’d prefer to redshirt.” But I could really make a good argument for each of the the other 3. They all have strengths. And weaknesses, of course.

That you have a brain.

Substitute the last 3 games of Burrows first regular season. If that makes you feels better. Myles also had a new system after Burrow left.

Your post holds no water.
