My flight a couple of weeks ago was cancelled (American Airlines - Denver) and it was due to a sand storm/ lightning in the Phoenix airport which prevented our plane from getting to Denver.

I’m attempting to file a claim with American Express and when I tried to get proof of cancellation from American Airlines they are now saying it was due to crew availability- which conveniently is not covered for insurance.

Is there any sort of internet archive that would have documentation of why a flight was cancelled? I feel like I’m shite out of luck here but trying anything.

Did you receive any type of email or text at the time about why it was canceled?

Because if American canceled for a crew issue you need to go through American for compensation.

they refunded 1/2 the cost.

The next available flight they offered would have had us arriving home 36 hours later so we purchased a red eye through delta for $1,200. So I’m out that amount of money.

AMEX only covers weather so I’m getting as much info as I can hoping they’ll give me something.
