Kayak rentals around Chicago

I hate to start a new thread but I figured it would get the most eyes. I'll be up there in August and want to kayak down the Riverside area of the Des Plaines River. Is there a place anywhere around town that I can rent a kayak for a day and bring it wherever I want?
The only rentals I can find on Google are for downtown on the Chicago River or lake front.

Hoops I'm sure will chime in.....
We had looked into doing that last August but opted out of it and just rode bikes around... then also bar hopped along the river.....
I think the only thing that tempts me for next time around will be to rent a boat and go enjoy/day drink...
That looks like the way to go if you are getting on the water

Is there a reason you want to do that specific area? If you are just looking for something that is not downtown, I recommend this:
Chicago River Paddle
Still in the city but it doesn't really feel like it once you're in the water.

My great aunt’s house backs up to the des plaines river and we wanted to stop there. We’d start somewhere up stream from Riverside CC and go just past town.

Lol. I have nothing, unfortunately! Wish I could help, but seems like he’s trying to find a kayak rental in the suburbs.

I’m guessing that doesn’t exist? I’d just buy one and bring it if I had room.

I’d imagine something exists, but I just don’t really know much of where to look in the suburbs.

Someone mentioned REI. I recommend calling them and LL Bean at Oakbrook. If they don’t rent, they may point you in the right direction.
