yep. Double edged sword. The SL government didn’t want dollars leaving the country for fertilizer. Unfortunately, with out the fertilizer , no one eats.

Good study in leftist lies available here. In Sri Lanka they wanted to keep the money in the country. In Netherlands, environmentalism. Same solution. Same result. The point is starvation of the populace.

Fertilizer is icky for the Earth. As such, the government didn’t want it used. That was the impetus for the restrictions. I’m sure the money saved was funneled elsewhere...
