We were in Czechia (Czech Republic) in December. Our second time. Favorite city in the world.

So much to see.

1. The Old Town Square/Old Town Hall with Astronomical Clock.
2. Walk across the Charles Bridge.
3. Everyone ends up walking, or catching an Uber, to Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral.

We stayed at Hotel Pod Vezi in Prague. Great hotel. Think they call it the Lesser Town section. (Across the Charles Bridge.) You’ll be walking through that area. Local family run type place. LINK

We went to Cafe Slavia to meet up with a friend of the couple we were traveling with, it's a historic cafe in the downtown area.

Personally, while Prague is great, you'd find it special to tour outside of the City. For example, we hired a driver and drove to Ceský Krumlov. He took us from Prague, returned, came back, picked us up and took us back. Was about $400. Great value. Plus it's just not easy taking a train there. One of the coolest small towns I've ever been to. On UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Selected Photos From Prague and Ceský Krumlov.

Good Travel Guide

My favorite city I've ever visited. Also don't hesitate to go outside the city. The train system is quite easy. Take a little time to learn the tram system in Prague and your visit will be vastly easier. Taking tram 22 to the top of the castle complex and walking downhill is a life save in the hot summer. Agree with staying in Mala Strana (lesser town). Many small hotels with great access to many restaurants, wine bars, and the castle complex. I'll offer a couple of suggestions that may not be on the typical Prague tour list. Take the funicular to Petrin tower then walk to the Strahov Monastery. There is a restaurant that over looks the city there. The food was very good but the view was unbelievable. You have all of Prague below you. Going to the top of Petrin tower and visiting the monastery are worth the time. You can do this in a couple of hours on the way to your meal there. Then walk back downhill to your hotel in Mala Strana.
Our favorite meal was Kuchyn just below the castle complex. You have to reserve a table outside ahead of time but we ate indoors for lunch with no reservation. You go to the stove and pick your food. For those from NE LA back in the day, it's like the Czech Sara's Kitchen in Ruston. (Maybe a little nicer)
The Vyesherad area is really a cool thing to see. It is considered the original site of Prague and is a very historic area for the Czech people.
Outside Prague, Kutna Hora is a must see for one day. Go to the silver mine tour and see the bone church. The whole town is really cool. Beautiful cathedral. Go to Restaurace V Ruthardce. Don't be afraid of Czech BBQ. It is legit. Get the short ribs and you'll thank me. Also, don't overdo the beer. It is really great but white wines from Moravia are fantastic. I quit drinking beer after a couple of days because the wine was so good. I'm jealous. Have a great time!

Forgot to add go to the National Museum. Very interesting.

LINK

Wonder up and down Wenceslas Square near the Museum. Lots of shops and restaurants. Very popular part of Prague.

Take in a concert in St. Clement Cathedral. A beautiful old church right by the Charles Bridge. Concert December 3 2021. Amazing acoustics and experience.

Concert Series.

Also, forgot to mention we stayed at Moods Charles Bridge. Great hotel. Very close to Old Town and the Charles Bridge, but not in a touristy area. Maybe a 10-15 minute walk tops.
