China bought Smithfield, the largest pork processor in the US (world?) back around 2013. The company is completely integrated so it included 146k acres in Missouri.
Missouri lawmakers had to change the law in Missouri to allow foreign ownership of land to allow the sale.
Curious about the bribe amounts.
