I don't for a minute think you sincerely believe that which you're attempting to promulgate. For a brief moment, set aside your feelings, and consider the law of the land regarding legal vs. illegal immigration.

What/how should these law-breakers be dealt with, considering the feckless policies of the US government?

This sheriff is elected to serve and protect the people who live in his county, not the criminals who invade.

He has no authority to enforce US immigration law, those are strictly federal. So by doing what he did he is actually committing a more major crime than illegal entry. No room for nuance here though.
