NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man punched and robbed a subway rider who wouldn’t give him money at a Bronx subway station, police said Tuesday as they released images of a suspect.

The 25-year-old victim was leaving the Third Avenue–138th Street station in Mott Haven when a man stood in front of him and blocked his path.

The man asked the victim if he had any money, and the victim told him he didn’t.

The man then punched the victim in his face, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

The attacker then stole the victim’s cellphone and $100 in cash before fleeing the station, according to police.

The victim suffered a laceration and swelling to his face. EMS responded and transported him to Lincoln Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The suspect is believed to be in his mid-20s. Surveillance images show him at 138th Street and Third Avenue before the robbery, police said.
