I think it is a good rule. The Facemask and Coller both act like HANDLES for a defender to grab. It is an unfair advantage. Tackling is a skill, and they should not receive the benefit of having that advantage. These two handles on the uniform also pose a safety threat to the players.

The game is becoming pretty difficult for defensive players

Are you serious? What any tackle can do to anyone's legs... If the possibility of getting hurt makes it illegal, the entire sport should jsut be stopped.

So if a QB is running in the open field you can't dive at them and hit their legs? BS.

Any tackling that involves the helmet neck should be illegal. The tackle on Dickson in the endzone should be illegal. Tackle the legs not eh head.

frick you dude i've been against this rule since the start. What about slinging someone down by their jersey? Part of the uniform, check. Used as a handle, check. Causes injury, check. "Slingshot Tackles" are a menace to the sport and should be a personal foul.
