What’s crazy is we are hearing about food shortages, yet we are simultaneously planning to remove farm acreage all over the US and to replace it with solar. They need large contiguous tracts without wetlands or steep slopes for solar, and the easiest way to find that is farmland.

I don’t blame the farmers, if I could get $700/acre/year guaranteed for the next 30-40 years with no expenses on my part I would be all over it too. Point is, similar to refining capacity and gas prices, if you reduce the ability to produce something, it will become scarcer and more expensive. Expect that to happen over the next 2-3 years as all these solar sites move forward.
