I used Turbo Tax. It asked if I paid child care. All I did was fill in the blanks on the app. Had I known it would AFFECT her I wouldn’t have done it. If anyone wants to actually help me out instead of berating me I’d appreciate it. Does she need to file a 1040 and show the $2500? Is it another form for self employment? Any other options besides her filing?

How about not fricking up anymore and do what you should have done in the first place if you were not sure and seek advice from a cpa, tax lawyer, etc instead of a message board...

She will have to report the income on a schedule C. Have her create a mileage log and write down the dates she babysat and the distances she had to drive. she can at least chip away at the liability. Add in some meals and entertainment and maybe a percentage of her phone bill that was dedicated for her "babysitting business". Best grey area advice i can do for you.

Next time, dont be a cheap arse and ask an accountant to file for you.
