I’m going to be in Alexandria for a weekend in August and looking to play around on the Saturday and potentially Sunday morning. What are some of the courses in the area that y’all would recommend?

Saturday and Sunday morning is going to be tough. Links will be full until late morning at best. Not certain about Oakwing because it's in shite shape right now. Tamahka in Marksville is probably your best bet.

Played OakWing today and it is improving mightily. The fairways are filling in. They are able to start irrigation of the course since the pump has been fixed. They are going to start the renovations on July 1 and was told it could take up to 3 months.

Will they be open during that time? Last time I played there I was hitting off of hardpan dirt from the middle of fairways

The locals pronounce it with a K. Maksville. No R. And sometimes an emphasis on Ville.
What about Links on the Bayou in Elic? Was in decent shape about 6 weeks ago and fairly affordable.

Really? I played last week because Links was scarifying the front fairways and it was pretty awful. Hope they can get it back under control.
