There are other questions not being answered.
The staff could have been trying to lead the crowd in a different direction.
I’m not saying it isn’t legal. I also don’t know if more than 1 police officer was complicit.
A guided tour by staff would be a little more organized if you ask me.
What was the gathering at the Capital?
When the Joint Session of Congress is in session is it open to the public?
Why did people try to enter knowing they couldn’t?
Why did the peaceful demonstrators break and force their way into the building?

Why does your premise assume that all violent protesters were Trump supporters?
We had video of ANTIFA folks changing in the bushes from their blackblock garb into MAGA hats, etc.
There was video of limp-wristed soybois getting ready to leave for DC, with one crying about having to wear a red MAGA hat. "We have to blend in".
