Why the surge in popularity in what seems like all of a sudden? Does anyone here play?

We used to play in high school phys ed, I always thought it was a cheap sport that they could occupy us with for 45 minutes while the coaches talked shop about this weekend's football game.

And that's why it's exploding now. It's pretty cheap to play, it doesn't take up space, matches are very short compared to real tennis (or golf), and it doesnt' take a ton of athletic ability.

Ergo seniors can throw down $5, play a few matches, and be done in time for the early buffet.

My retired parents and all their friends play. Seniors love it.
