I would assume the Browns risk management dept. put something into his deal for this very issue. If not they deserve this for being complete idiots.

Him being found guilty of anything criminal at this point is extremely low. Grand jury already passed on most if not all these cases
According to Tony Buzbee that was b/c the ADA purposely sandbagged it. I put this in the NYT thread but here it is for those who skip that one

“Just so there is no confusion: I personally contacted the Harris County DA’s office one time on behalf of the victims to make available to her my clients and any evidence I had collected. My team also did so. They wouldn’t even talk to us!
I had no idea that the assistant district attorney was regularly corresponding with Deshaun Watson’s lawyer by email and text; I didn’t know that the assistant district attorney actually went to Hardin’s office to discuss the cases; I didn’t know that Watson’s lawyer provided a PowerPoint that was to be used before the grand jury.
I didn’t know, but know now after speaking to the investigating officer under oath, that the police investigation team was convinced that Watson had committed more than ten sexual crimes, or that the ADA had prevented the investigating officers from talking to the women who had filed lawsuits but had not filed criminal complaints. And what I do know is that, of the multiple criminal complainants in Houston, only one was asked by the ADA to appear in front of the grand jury, even though other victims were standing by to do so.
As a taxpayer, and more importantly as the advocate for these women, I feel “home towned” in my own home town, and duped. I think the public and all interested were duped as well. Makes you wonder. . . Thank God for the civil justice system.”

Maybe so, from what I know about Buzbee I’d take that with a grain of salt, but I’d also not be shocked by a DA office fricking it up intentionally or other wise but as it stands when none of the cases are able to get an indictment, barring a new allegation with actual tangible similar to videos of some sort, I just think the scenario of the browns actually going that route due to the new allegations is still extremely low. And even if they do go that route I don’t think it would be a slam dunk for them to recoup that money back- unless again of course more substantial physical evidence that results in an indictment comes out
And weirdly enough any info that gets leaked publicly about the case details lessens the leverage of the girls suing for damages in a potential settlement scenario. With criminal charges largely off the table, the public discovery of a civil trial would be Watsons main concern to push him to settle. But if it all gets aired out in The NY Times, he’s going to feel less pressure to try to avoid a trial- assuming he believes he would win a trial that is
