Part of your argument as to why these tennis players are the greatest athletes ever is because they did it against what you’d consider the best competitors, correct?
Did you know that in the year Secretariat won the triple crown the #2 horse he ran against, Sham, would have absolutely been the Triple Crown winner in almost any other year? He ran the second fastest Derby time EVER (behind only Secretariat) and the fifth fastest Preakness time EVER (which Secretariat also owns the fastest time to, as well as the final race at Belmont).
Now if you want to disqualify Secretariat because he’s a horse I can understand. I disagree, but I understand.
But no one can deny that he won against the toughest competition any athlete could hope to battle in his sport.
