LSU needs a defensive coordinator

Miles seems to be suffering from the same illness that attacked Gerry DiNardo. After a couple good years, he finds himself without a DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. (in DiNardo's case, he hired a bad defensive coordinator and wouldn't let him go).

Now, the LSU defense seems to lack willpower and hustle. That is coaching.

Any thoughts?

Nice photo. Do you mean the guy in the background? He looks ready.

That is West Monroe DC Jerry Arledge. He would be a huge upgrade over the 2 headed garbage LSU has now. To the far left is his grandson and LSU OG Will Blackwell. The bald guy?

The TWO HEADED MONKEY SYSTEM is fairly stupid. If this LSU team falls apart, it will be a dreadful rerun of the DiNardo years.

I thought that DiNardo developed one of the best offenses in LSU history. But when Tepper showed up, the defense started giving up 35 points per game.

This years LSU team is giving up a fairly shocking number as well.

A Tepper comparison.
Gee, that hasn't been done A THOUSAND FREAKING TIMES this week.

Let me guess, a Saban/ Miles comparison is forthcoming....

Please shoot me.

Dude, I am not ragging Miles. I love Miles. I loved DiNardo. I want to see him and LSU succeed. But don't think for a minute that the AD wouldn't hire a D-coordinator if Miles told him to do so.

No...no Saban comparison here. I liked Saban OK, but always thought he was more of a program developer than a coach. Sure, he puts the best teams in uniform, but the dude really can't evaluate talent at all. Look at his track record at LSU and Miami.

yeah, Miles should go ahead and fire the 2 he has right now. New DC's would be lining up at the door knowing that they might be fired after one game.

Seriously?

I questioned his gameday coaching, but talent evaluation, especially on defense, was the one thing he excelled at above all else.

Nothing will be done about the CDC's until after the season. I predict a single coordinator (and not one of the present CDC's) in place by spring. KC.

I never said anything about FIRING anyone. But this coordinator by committee thing doesn't seem to be working out too well. Mind you, it wouldn't hurt if the defense started tackling a little.

As for Saban and talent evaluation, I don't mean for recruiting. He may be the best recruiter out there. I mean in practice. Saban consistently struggled to find a "starter" and it was not uncommon for the starter to get hurt, and have the backup excel and replace the starter permanently. Of course that happens sometimes, but it was so common under Saban that one wondered how good he was at evaluating practice.

Saban wasn't a great game day coach either. But the dude could build a program. No doubt there. Hat's off to him.

But this thread was about the coordinator position. I suspect that the previous suggestion is correct. Next season LSU will have a D-coordinator.

I hope LSU goes out and gets somebody really good. Does anyone know who might be available?

like the top recruiting classes, or putting guys in positions that maximized their talent?

Immediate and direct contradiction.
