Most small town cops in places where I have lived are so incompetent and out of shape. All they are good for is setting up speed traps.
To be honest, in this particular situation, I wouldn’t put it past the Uvalde police making the situation worse by going in. Ideally, you’re just hoping they absorb enough bullets so the gunman runs out of ammunition he can’t use on small children.
