This is the key. He knew the footage existed, he even viewed the footage, and did so at least six months months before anyone outside the coverup knew footage even existed.
Was the governor part of the coverup? The facts and timeline don’t look good for him.
The incident was reported to him that night. Why? Someone had to think it was big enough to tell the governor.
The “lost tape” was shown to the governor in secret over a year after the Greene incident. Why? Who thought that it was important to see the tape?
If it wasn’t a big deal why was Edwards called initially? And if it wasn’t a big deal, why was he shown the tape in private a year later? And since we all know now it was a big deal, how can anyone explain why Edwards did nothing?

If the Greene murder came to light immediately, Louisiana would be in the national spotlight, and he would have no choice but to take some action that stood to alienate a significant number of the moderate/conservative crossover votes on which his first election had depended.
how can anyone explain why Edwards did nothing?
He made a pragmatic choice for political expediency at the expense of justice for one of our fellow Louisianans. Pure evil.
