Cancelled flight question...who pays for shuttle between airports?

stepson on his way back from LGA, flight cancelled, rerouted through Newark, took an Uber from LGA to Newark. Shouldn't the airline cough up some sort of shuttle between airports?

Was delayed overnight in Houston recently and Delta paid for hotel and shuttle

Yeah airline pays for shuttle, usually you need to ask for a taxi voucher though. In this case, submit the expense online and mention it's from a cancelled flight
