Yea from Tarzana going down to Trump may be a slog unfortunately. I think in this case Rustic Canyon might be the best choice. It’s pretty fun, although I admit I don’t understand its cult-like admiration. It’s not THAT cool/nice of a course. It’s just in good shape usually and unusual for the area (more links style so pretty open). It gets rave reviews but put me in the “aight” column. You could do worse. For instance for me personally, I enjoy Tierra Rejada more than Rustic and it’s right down the road from it. It’s got better Mountain View’s etc. but it’s probably not as nice as Rustic, plus it’s more difficult so people don’t like it as much. I think Moorpark Country Club is public and it looks really nice from photos. I moved out of the valley before I had the chance to play. 27 holes though and they look nice.
Braemar is supposed to be pretty cool too, I’ve never played but would like to try it out. Supposed to be really really difficult. Never played the other CCs on your list either.
Just stay away from the Encino, Balboa, Woodley Lakes. It’s 3 courses on one property. Those will be the 3 closest to you but they are all shitholes.
If you’re feeling somewhat adventurous (maybe 35-45 mins) then Angeles National is probably your best bet. Nothing in the city (unless you somehow get on somewhere exclusive) will beat the ones mentioned.
I’d go Angeles National 1. Probably Braemar 2 cuz I’ve heard decent things and that it’s a really tough course and I like tough courses. (Those are definitely the two hardest courses on the list, but like I said I enjoy hard courses).
3rd would be Rustic or one of the other country clubs.
That’s just me personally
