Bro, New York has 23.5m people in its combined statistical area, and L.A. has 18.6m. By comparison, New Orleans has 1.5m. I think NY deserves their second team.

Also, the multiple teams are the result of different leagues. The AFL brought the Jets into the merger. The ABA brought the Nets. The Mets were a replacement for the NL fans who weren't going to get behind the Yankees.
