Happened on our boat on our way to a Med run. A Senior Chief Nav ET had a heart attack and died in the middle of the Atlantic. We wrapped him in terry cloth and then plastic wrap and put him in the freezer for 3 days. It was tight cuz we just loaded groceries. We had to drop him off in Rota Spain. This was early 90's. Maybe protocols have changed since then.

I don’t think so, where else do you put a body? If you map the CT universe onto the real one though, I think the other at sea Ohio’s have coverage while the Alabama flanks it back to port to dump the body and repair the galley [seriously, if a piece of galley equipment gets knocked out your deployment range shrinks from months to weeks if not days, cans of flour are useless with no oven]
