After absolutely obliterating the Packers in Week 1, the OL played as poorly as I've ever seen them play in that Week 2 loss against Carolina. I remember thinking if the Saints prioritize OL once again in the 1st round of draft, not only would I not complain about it, but I'd celebrate the attempt to upgrade.
Terron Armstead missed 9 games and the record with his replacements was 4-5. Sure, Penning has some pass protection flaws, but they are fixable. His run blocking is as nasty good as it gets. Penning should be an upgrade over the replacements.
And just remember, as disappointing as the OL played at times, they never gave up 9 sacks in one game like a certain Super Bowl team did. Our OL was still solid enough to get the incompetent combo of Taysom/Siemian/Book one play away from the playoffs.
