About to leave out the LA express launch to chase bass. My neighbor got on them good yesterday afternoon fishing the docks from the Sandbar to the South Island. He said he boated 13 throwing a Bone colored Bandit 100. I have that crank bait tied on now and going to try the island side docks. Update coming.

Not as good as my neighbor. Caught 3 bass on the bone colored bandit (2 fish under the same dock). 1 other bass on a chartreuse chatter bait and missed another. Only 5 bites all morning, maybe the afternoons are where it’s at?

Thanks for the report. Did you fish mainly the south end ?
We plan to go either Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

7 bass total, only 4 over 14”. All caught on the bone colored bandit 100. They are in the shade way under the docks. Bring the gnat spray, they’re bad if no wind. Good luck.

The shad spawn is killing the bass fishing right now, looks like a summer rain storm along the banks and docks before first light. Fish are feasting way too heavy on shad right now in the AMs

Same thing I seen yesterday, must be why they were eating the bone colored crank bait. Im sure anything white or chrome would have worked too, but I wasn’t going to switch to find out. Enjoying while it lasts.

Throw a white spinner bait on the edges. I’ve had success during a shad spawn

That was Joe Major’s favorite False river weapon back when his fishing reports were published in the LA sportsman magazine. Old memories abound.

My son and I went yesterday. Not a single Bass bite. Headed to the North flats around 10:00 and caught about 25 catfish. Made for a nice day.
