My honest opinion
OK - that was a better response than I anticipated, so you deserve an equally honest reply.
It seems your problem is that "conservatives just don't do these kind of things" - and that is what most of us have thought for a long time also. Don't know how old your are - but I have been around since the Great Depression and have watched this nation grow strong and honorable. I have also seen it make grave mistakes, but always strove to honorable atone for them and ensure they didn't become our 'way of life.'
I dont have the time to produce a complete rationalization for my acceptance of the "retribution" aspect of your problem. But it has to be equivalent to "fight fire with fire"
I have witnessed what happens when one side of a dispute acts honorably, and the other side not only acts dishonorably, but plans their attacks on the supposition that the other side 'just wouldn't do that."
Well - it is about time that we dip our toe into that cold pool. Allowing the other side to load up their gloves with brass knuckles while we continue fighting with Queensbury's rules has resulted in our being beaten to a bloody pulp. Especially since the referees themselves are aligned with the 'other' side.
Now - if the decision to sanction Disney is a bad one on its merits, then that would be a bad decision. I am 'trusting' that DeSantis is more aware of the independent merit of this action than I am likely to be.
But I will give you this - IF this turns out to be a BAD decisions on its merits - then I will join you in denouncing DeSantis for doing it.
BUT - if it is meritorious on its own, just because it was prompted by Disney's dishonorable actions is no reason to not do it.
It's about time that some penalty is paid by these high and mighty organization who totally lie about every political item that comes across their desk.
anyway -
